Sounds quite sinister, (and I suppose it is) but scientists have developed a 16 litre Abyss Box that “can maintain [aquatic] animals in the extreme environment they need.” – This will allow researchers to study aquatic animals that have previously been unable to survive at ground level pressures in great detail without causing harm to them. While this is not directly of use in research towards the design of the ecology centre (as there are no deep oceanic habitats within the park!), it has reminded me of the importance of habitat and climatic conditions on the development and flourishment of species.
